Agent-based Licensing

Note: Observing and managing licenses on Controller Tenant UI differs according to the Splunk AppDynamics licenses you purchased. If you purchased licenses in the Agent-based Licensing model, your UI displays usage data based on an agent metering unit, compared to licenses within the Infrastructure-based model, which displays data based on a unified package metering unit. See .Observe On-Premises License Usage v24.7.

Account Usage Dashboard

To view license usage, go to User > License.

Click on a license to view consumption limits. The graphs show the cumulative license usage over the specified period, even though the license usage count is reset daily. To view your license usage for one day, set the time range to 23 hours and 59 seconds.

Account Usage Reporting

From the Reporting tab, you can generate license usage reports for one or more applications. The report shows the license units used and the usage of the APM microservice units. You can also export the license usage data as a CSV file.

  1. Go to User > License.
  2. Click Reporting.
  3. Select one or more applications you want to view usage.
  4. Click Show Usage.

  5. Click Export Usage Data to save the report as a CSV file.

Application versus Microservice Usage

The LICENSE USAGE REPORTED lists two distinct rows of license unit usage related to the APM SKU. The top row displays the total license units used for the APM SKU. Directly below it, the second row shows the number of license units attributed to using the Microservice SKU. The second row's figures represent a subset of the first row's total license units, indicating how many APM SKU licenses are allocated explicitly for microservices.

Data Storage

It displays the allocated storage limit. You can select the product and hover over the timeline to learn the data consumption for each event type.

  • Stored: Displays how much data is stored.
  • Overage: Displays how much of the data exceeds the storage limit, leading to data loss.

Note: If you require to increase the storage allocation, contact Splunk AppDynamics Support.
