Add a field aging rule for entity inventory fields

Field aging deletes or deprioritizes a specific field within an inventory after a set period of time. You can create rules to modify the retention period for particular fields within an inventory. To add a field aging rule, complete the following steps:

  1. Select Configure and then All configurations.

  2. In the Exposure analytics section, select Inventory management and then Retention rules.

  3. In the Field aging section, select Add field aging rule.

  4. Using the drop-down list, select an inventory.
  5. Select the field name you want to modify the retention period for.
  6. Select the action you want to perform when the entity reaches the retention period.
    • Select Clear field to delete the field value after the entity reaches the retention period.
    • Select Reduce priority to allow other sources to overwrite the field value after the entity reaches the retention period.
  7. Enter a retention period for Last seen over.
  8. Select Save.
  9. Activate the retention by changing the Status to On.

After you add a field aging rule, you can edit the retention period again by selecting the settings icon ( settings ) for that rule, and you can remove the rule entirely by selecting the trash can icon.
