Create a dashboard in Dashboard Studio
- From the Dashboards page, click Create New Dashboard.
Give your dashboard a title and description.
- (Optional) Under Dashboard Title, click Edit ID for your dashboard. By default, the dashboard ID is the same as the dashboard title. You can edit the dashboard title at any time, but you can't change the dashboard ID later. Note: Different dashboards in the same app can share the same dashboard title, but they can't share the same dashboard ID. Dashboards in different apps, however, can share both titles and IDs. By editing the dashboard ID, you can create multiple dashboards with identical titles in the same app.
For Permissions, decide whether you want others to be able to view your dashboard or whether you'd like it to be private.
- Select Dashboard Studio to build your dashboard. If you want to use the Classic Dashboards (simple XML) framework, see Get Started with DashboardsGet Started with Dashboards in the Splunk Dashboards and Visualizations manual.
- Select Absolute or Grid layout. Use absolute layout for pixel-perfect placement and the ability to add shapes, icons, and background images. To quickly put together a dashboard using only charts that snap to your specified rows, choose the grid layout. For information about both layouts, see Compare absolute and grid layouts.
- Click Create.
The Examples Hub is a page you can access from the Dashboards landing page where you can view example dashboards for many popular use cases. The example dashboards include visualization panels, their source code, and the run-anywhere SPL search used to create the example.
