Ingest monitoring provides a comprehensive view of your total data ingestion into Splunk. You can monitor the data ingested into Splunk indexes, gain granular insights into data ingestion and address potential problems faster. Using Ingest monitoring you can:
- Monitor volume and latency metrics across all indexes, source types, hosts, sources and any combination of these elements.

- Identify data sources that have not ingested data in a selected time period
- Identify spikes in volume for any data source
