Install the Data Management API app

Confirm that you have admin access and a supported Splunk Enterprise version 10.6 or higher management node with Edge Processor support enabled.

Complete the following steps.

  1. In Splunkbase, download the published dmx_cmp package for Data Management APIs for Splunk Enterprise.
  2. Log in to Splunk Web as an administrator. Select Apps > Manage Apps, and then select Install app from file.
  3. Select the downloaded package, upload it, and restart Splunk Enterprise if prompted.
  4. Retrieve the installed OpenAPI specification as described in API access and roles to verify that the app responds and to use the version-specific API contract.

You can now run the first-time setup steps. The normal Splunk app launcher does not display the app; its primary interface is the REST API.
