The Edge Processor service is accessed through the Splunk Enterprise environment.

When you enable Edge Processor on your data management control plane in an admin role, additional roles and their corresponding capabilities become available. These roles and capabilities can be assigned to users depending on the tasks the users will perform and manage in Edge Processor. See Data management roles and capabilities for a list of these additional roles and their capabilities.

Only users on that Splunk Enterprise deployment with the required capabilities can access the Edge Processor service and view the general user interface. If a user's account does not have the necessary capabilities, then they cannot view, create, update, or delete resources such as Edge Processors, pipelines, destinations, and source types. To allow a user to make full use of the Edge Processor solution, you must grant them the data_management_admin role in the Splunk Enterprise instance hosting the data management control plane.
