Collect Linux data

Send telemetry from Linux hosts to Splunk Observability Cloud.

The Splunk Distribution of OpenTelemetry Collector sends telemetry from Linux hosts to Splunk Observability Cloud.

Supported versions

The Collector supports the following Linux distributions and versions on amd64 and arm64 CPUs:

  • Amazon Linux 2, 2023

  • CentOS 7, 8, 9, 10

  • Debian 11, 12

  • Oracle 8, 9

  • Red Hat 7, 8, 9, 10

  • Rocky Linux 8, 9

  • SUSE 12, 15 for version 0.34.0 or higher

  • Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, 20.04, 22.04, 24.04

Install the Collector for Linux

Splunk Observability Cloud offers a guided setup to install the Collector:

  1. Log in to Splunk Observability Cloud.

  2. Open the Linux guided setup. Optionally, you can navigate to the guided setup on your own:

    1. In the navigation menu, select Data Management.

    2. Go to the Available integrations tab, or select Add Integration in the Deployed integrations tab.

    3. In the integration filter menu, select All.

    4. Select Linux.

    5. Select Add Connection. The integration guided setup appears.

  3. Follow the steps in the guided setup.
