Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile is an iOS and Android companion mobile app to Splunk Observability Cloud. You can use Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile to check system critical metrics in Splunk Observability Cloud on the go, access real-time alerts with visualizations, and view mobile-friendly dashboards.

What can I do with Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile?

Using Splunk Observability Cloud for mobile, you can do the following:

  • View, filter, and search for dashboards and alerts from your Splunk Observability Cloud instance.
  • Gain context on active alerts such as triggering conditions and detector details.
  • Conduct high-level investigation before switching to Splunk Observability Cloud or other relevant tools.
  • If you’ve configured your on-call notification preference to send push notifications, you will receive push notification on any device where you’re logged in to Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile.

To use Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile you must be a Splunk Observability Cloud user.

Other devices might work with Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile on iOS and Android but have not been certified as compatible by Splunk.

Download Splunk Observability for Mobile from the App Store

  1. On your mobile device, launch the App Store.
  2. Enter Splunk Observability Cloud in the search bar.
  3. Tap the Splunk Observability Cloud Mobile app.
  4. Tap Get.
  5. Confirm the download with your Apple ID to install Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile on your device.

Download Splunk Observability for Mobile from the Google Play store

  1. On your mobile device, launch the Google Play store.
  2. Enter Splunk Observability Cloud in the search bar.
  3. Tap the Splunk Observability Cloud Mobile app.
  4. Download Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile.
Note: Due to Chinese network restrictions, you can’t access the Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile app from the iOS App Store or the Google Play store if you are in mainland China and have a device that is on a Chinese network carrier.

User Authentication in Splunk Observability for Mobile

After you download Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile, you have a variety of authentication methods to choose from in order to access your Splunk Observability Cloud instances.

  1. Launch Splunk Observability Cloud on your mobile device.
  2. Select your realm or enter a custom URL.

    When your Splunk Observability Cloud admin set up Single Sign On (SSO), they created a custom URL for your organization. The URL must be a subdomain of observability.splunkcloud.com. An example of a custom URL is https://your_org.observability.splunkcloud.com. The Enter Custom URL field is prepopulated with observability.splunkcloud.com. Enter the unique portion of your organization’s custom URL before observability.splunkcloud.com.

  3. Choose from User Credentials, Google, or SSO.

View dashboards and alerts using Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile

You can use Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile to check system critical metrics in Splunk Observability Cloud on the go, access real-time alerts with visualizations, and view mobile-friendly dashboards.

View dashboards using Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile

You can use the Dashboards tab to do the following things:

  • View and interact with dashboards from your Splunk Observability Cloud organization.
  • View and interact with a wide variety of charts and visualization.
  • Search and save Dashboards.
  • Share dashboards with other Splunk Observability Cloud users.

View and search dashboards

You can view dashboards in Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile by navigating between the dashboard categories or by searching for them. You can access any dashboard that you have permission to view in Splunk Observability Cloud.

  1. In Splunk Observability for Mobile, go to the Dashboards tab.
  2. Choose one of the following options:
    • Select a dashboard category: My Dashboards, Custom, or Built In.
    • Select the search icon to search for dashboards by name.
  3. Tap a dashboard to view it.

The following dashboard information is available within a dashboard on Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile:

  • Preset overrides and filters.
  • Dashboard description.
  • Charts and visualizations.

Filter dashboards

You can apply additional filters to a dashboard to view the information relevant to your needs.

  1. To filter a dashboard, navigate to the Filter + section of the dashboard where the preset overrides and filters are listed.
  2. Tap Filter + to add additional filters.
  3. Tap any existing filters listed to adjust filter settings.

Share dashboards

You can share dashboards with other Splunk Observability Cloud users. When sharing a dashboard, the recipient must be a Splunk Observability Cloud user and have permission to view the dashboard.

  1. Select the dashboard you want to share.
  2. Tap the share icon in the top right corner and select your preferred sharing method.

View alerts using Splunk Observability for Mobile

You can use the alerts tab to do the following things:

  • View past and active alerts.
  • View detailed visualizations that contain alert data about what happened at the time of the alert.
  • Share alerts with other Splunk Observability Cloud users.

View alerts

  1. In Splunk Observability Cloud for Mobile, go to the Alerts tab.
  2. Filter alerts based on severity: Critical, Major, Minor, Warning, and Info.
    • Select Severity to set your severity preferences.
    • Tap Apply to update your severity preferences.
  3. Tap an alert to view alert details.

Share alerts

You can share an alert with other Splunk Observability Cloud users.

  1. Select the alert you want to share.
  2. Tap the share icon in the top right corner and select your preferred sharing method.
