Create alert rules

Create new alert rules in the Ingest Monitoring app using a step-by-step wizard to set details, trigger conditions, severity, and review before activation.

To create a new alert rule, select the +New alert rule button available on each screen of the Ingest Monitoring app. The +New alert rule starts the alert rule guided setup.

The guided setup takes you through the following steps:

  1. In Alert details, set the main parameters for the alert, like aggregation interval and data entity or their combination.
  2. In Trigger rules, define the conditions that will trigger the alert, like thresholds and schedule.

    In this step, you can also set the alert expiration time, which states how long after being triggered the alert stays active.

    You can also throttle the alert for a configurable duration to prevent alert fatigue.

    Note: Throttling the alert does not stop the monitoring. It only suppresses the alert.
  3. In Actions, define the severity of the alert.

    You can select from the following severity gradation:

    • INFO
    • LOW
    • MEDIUM
    • HIGH
    • CRITICAL
  4. In Review, review the settings and either edit a specific section, if needed, or select Save to save the alert rule.
After saving, the new rule is activated and is listed in the Alert rules tab.
