Agent Launchpad for on-premises users
Agent Launchpad can help you build, run, review, and manage operational agents directly in Splunk. Agent Launchpad ships with the AI Toolkit version 6.0.0 and higher for Splunk Cloud users, but on-premises users can access this feature through the Splunk Cloud Connect app.
To learn more about this app and app installation instructions, see Splunk Cloud Connect on Splunkbase.
Prerequisites
You must meet the following prerequisites to use Agent Launchpad as an on-premises user:
-
Splunk Cloud Connect (SCC) app installed.
-
A tenant created and onboarded through SCC.
-
The required AI Toolkit role and capability assigned.
-
You must have the
edit_agent_connectionscapability to add Knowledge Base and MCP connections. Users with themltk_adminrole have this capability by default.
-
-
Network connectivity to the configured MCP endpoints, if needed.
Network and firewall requirements
Your firewall or proxy must allow outbound HTTPS connectivity from the Splunk Enterprise environment to any configured Splunk MCP or other external integration endpoints.
Onboarding workflow
There is no separate AI Toolkit application or user experience for on-premises customers. After SCC onboarding and activation, the existing AI Toolkit functionality is used.
The same AI Toolkit roles and capabilities apply to both cloud and on-premises users. SCC onboarding only provides connectivity to Splunk-hosted services; it does not replace the AI Toolkit's existing user authorization and capability checks.
Onboarding steps
-
Install Splunk Cloud Connect (SCC) if it is not done so already. See Splunk Cloud Connect on Splunkbase.
-
Use SCC to create or connect to a Splunk-managed tenant.
-
Activate the AI Toolkit for that tenant.
-
Wait for the activation to complete.
-
The AI Toolkit retrieves the tenant details and authentication information through SCC and uses these details to connect to the tenant-specific Splunk Cloud Services (SCS).
-
On-premises users can then access Splunk Hosted LLMs and Agent Launchpad from the on-premises AI Toolkit application.
