Connect Power BI to an Open Sharing analytics table

Use the endpoint and bearer token from an external sharing profile to connect Power BI to a shared Machine Data Lake analytics table.

Use the following values from the external sharing profile when you connect Power BI to the shared analytics table.

Power BI value	Profile field
Delta Sharing server URL	endpoint
Bearer token or key	bearerToken

1. Open the downloaded sharing profile in a local text editor.
2. Copy the endpoint value and the bearerToken value.

   Do not copy the token into notes, chat messages, or shared troubleshooting files.

3. In Power BI Desktop, open Get Data and search for Delta Sharing.
4. Select the Delta Sharing connector, and then select Connect.
5. In the server URL field, enter the endpoint value from the profile.
6. If the connector shows advanced options, set a row limit only when the workflow requires a smaller import for exploration or testing.
7. When Power BI prompts for authentication, choose the bearer token or key authentication option and enter the bearerToken value from the profile.
8. Select the shared table that represents the analytics table, and then load or transform the data.

Power BI imports the shared analytics table data. Refresh behavior depends on Power BI configuration and on whether the sharing profile remains valid.

• If the sharing profile expires or is revoked, Power BI cannot refresh through that profile. Create a new profile only when continued access is authorized.

• Publish reports only to workspaces and audiences that are authorized to view the shared analytics table data.
