What can I use the Catalog for?

Use the Catalog to discover and manage data in Splunk Cloud Platform.

You can filter the Catalog for datasets of interest and select each dataset to view more details about it. Using the Catalog to gain these preliminary insights into your data allows you to start your investigations with more focused SPL or SPL2 searches.

If you have the required capabilities, you can also create connections, federated datasets, and Machine Data Lake raw tables to onboard data from a variety of sources. You can then manage data availability and storage through dataset permission settings.
