Create an Event Grid system topic

Create an Event Grid System topic that represents your Azure Storage Account as an event source.

A system topic represents your Azure Storage Account as an event source. Create an Event Grid system topic from the Azure Event Grid service. For more information, see the Azure Event Grid Documentation: Create a system topic

Note: This is task 2 of 5 tasks that you must complete to ensure that the Splunk-native data catalog that backs your Microsoft Azure dataset stays in sync with that dataset as it changes over time. See Ensure the Microsoft Azure dataset and its data catalog stay in sync.
  1. In the Azure portal, search for Event Grid System Topics and select Event Grid System Topics in the Services list.
  2. On the System topics page, select + Create.
  3. On the Create Event Grid System Topic page, fill in the Basics tab fields as specified and then select Review + correct.
    Setting Description
    Topic types Select Storage Accounts (Blob & GPv2).
    Subscription Select the name of your Azure subscription.
    Resource group Select the resource group that contains your storage account.
    Resource Select the name of your storage account.
    Name Enter a unique name for the Event Grid system topic. Take note of this name, as you will need it in a following task.
  4. Review the settings for the system topic, then select Create.
When the system topic is successfully created, its overview page shows Status: Active. Stay on the Event Grid system topic overview page for the next task: Create an event subscription for the Event Grid system topic.
