Modify the retention period for entity inventory records

Inventory retention determines how long a record is retained after it has last been discovered. This applies to the four entity inventories and also to the association inventory that keeps track of asset and user associations. To modify the retention period for inventory records, complete the following steps:

1. Select Configure and then All configurations.

2. In the Exposure analytics section, select Inventory management and then Retention rules.

3. Select the settings icon ( ) for the inventory or association type you want to modify.
4. Enter a retention period in days for Last seen over. The retention period is based on the last seen date in Exposure Analytics. If an asset hasn't been discovered in the period of time you specify, Exposure Analytics removes it.

5. For an inventory type retention, create a filter for the type of record you want to archive. For example, enter asset_type with the value "workstation" to only archive workstations that haven't been discovered in the time period you specified.

6. Select Save.

7. Activate the retention by changing the Status to On.
