Set up an HTTP server test
Integrate Splunk Synthetic Monitoring with Cisco ThousandEyes to create HTTP server tests.
An HTTP Server test sends an HTTP request to a target URL from one or more ThousandEyes locations. The test measures how successfully and quickly the target responds, providing visibility into service availability, response performance, and network conditions.
Create an HTTP server test
To configure an HTTP Server test, provide a target URL, select one or more ThousandEyes locations, and set the test frequency. You can optionally configure request headers, follow redirects, network-layer options, and detectors.
-
In Splunk Observability Cloud, select Digital Experience, then Synthetics tests with network data.
-
Select Create new test. From the Test with network insights section, select HTTP server test .
-
Enter a test name and the target URL.
-
(Optional) Check off follow redirects.
-
(Optional) Add request headers.
-
Select the ThousandEyes locations.
-
Set the test frequency.
-
Configure the network layer options: protocol, and the path trace mode in session.
-
Add detectors if you want alerts to be created with the test.
- Select Create.
HTTP Server test results
Each test run includes diagnostic information such as response headers, request headers, connection information, TLS session details, and an application-layer failure message when the test fails.
You can view recent test history, inspect the results for a specific run, customize the Performance KPIs chart, create detectors, and navigate to correlated APM data when a matching trace is available. For more information, see Interpret HTTP server test results.
