Metrics

Use the database instance navigator to review performance, resource consumption, active sessions, workload, query metrics, and system metrics for a selected database instance.

The Metrics tab provides curated, system-level performance charts. These charts display telemetry collected by the OpenTelemetry Collector and help you monitor the underlying infrastructure and resource limits of the database instance.

Metric categories

To help you isolate issues quickly, charts are grouped in the left menu.

  • Performance: Charts related to database execution speed, throughput, and work rates.

  • Resource Usage: Charts that track memory consumption, active locks, and system limit utilization.

  • Connections: Charts that track connection allocation, active and inactive connections, and connection pool utilization.

  • Storage: Charts that track tablespace usage, disk I/O, and storage capacity limits.

Chart features

Each metric chart includes interactive controls to help you investigate anomalies.

  • Time Window Indicator: Displays the aggregation window for the metric data, such as 1h for one-hour rollups.

  • Alert Bell Icon: Opens active alert rules associated with the metric or lets you create a detector.

  • More Options: Provides options to view the raw metric in the Metric Finder, add the chart to a custom dashboard, or copy the chart link.
