Export Detection Rules
To export Business Detection rules, the following two methods are supported:
- UI-based Import: Exporting detection rules through the user interface (UI) only includes the active Business Transactions and their associated detection rules. Other configured detection rules that are not linked to active Business Transactions will not be exported through the UI.
- API-based Import (using CURL): To export all detection rules, including those not associated with active Business Transactions, use the API method through terminal commands (such as CURL). migrate the rules between applications and tiers using the Controller API. See Configuration Import and Export API.
The UI and API methods are independent; import and export operations should be performed consistently using either the UI or the terminal (API).
Detection rules exported via the API cannot be imported through the UI, and vice versa, due to differences in data structure and handling between the two approaches.
Option 1: UI for both export and import
Option 2: Terminal (CURL commands) for both export and import
Example Use Cases:
To export all detection rules (including inactive or unlinked ones), use the API method. If you start the export process using the terminal (CURL), you must also use the terminal for importing. Mixing the two approaches (e.g., exporting through the API and importing through UI) will result in failure, as expected.
