URL Monitoring Metrics

The following metrics are aggregated and reported for each monitored URL. The process of using the ping command to regularly check if a website (identified by its URL) is accessible and responsive, essentially testing its uptime and network connectivity by measuring the time it takes to send a data packet to the website and receive a response back . See Machine Agent Settings for Server Visibility to modify the default process monitoring.

PING AVG RTT (ms)Round Trip Time (RTT) measured by a ping test. It is the average time a data packet takes to travel from your device to a destination server and back again. It is displayed in milliseconds (ms). A lower average RTT indicates a faster connection.Server VisibilityKPI
PING MAX RTT (ms)It is the highest recorded RTT.Server VisibilityYesKPI
PING MDEV (ms)It is the mean deviation in the output of a ping command. It shows the average deviation of the RTT from the mean RTT, indicating how much the response times vary during the test.Server VisibilityKPI
PING MIN RTT (ms)It is the shortest recorded RTT.Server VisibilityKPI
PACKETS RECEIVED (%)It is the percentage of data packets that successfully reached their intended destination out of the total number of packets sent. It indicates how well a network is transmitting data without losing packets. A higher percentage means better network performance and lower packet loss.Server VisibilityKPI
PORT RTT (ms)It indicates how long it takes for a data packet to travel from a device to a server on a specific port and back again. It measures the latency of that specific port connection.Server VisibilityKPI
2 When collecting Process metrics on Solaris, the Machine Agent observes and captures only the first 80 characters of each process name and argument list. The agent considers only the first 80 characters of each process string when it applies allowlists ("always monitor this process") and blocklists ("never monitor this process") defined in ServerMonitoring.yml.
