Install Virtual Appliance on Your Own Kubernetes Cluster

Learn how to deploy Splunk AppDynamics Virtual Appliance services on your own Kubernetes cluster instead of the bundled MicroK8s environment.

You can deploy Virtual Appliance and infrastructure services on your Kubernetes cluster as an alternative to the bundled MicroK8s environment. To use your own Kubernetes cluster, you must ensure the environment is configured to support container image loading, secret management, and the installation of the Virtual Appliance services.

Limitations

When using your own Kubernetes cluster, certain features may be limited or unavailable. Review these limitations before deploying the Virtual Appliance with the BYOK deployer.

Modules Notes
Component availability Fluent Bit, Cluster Agent, Machine Agent, and AI Insights components are unavailable.
Backup and restore Supports only database level backup and restore.
Supported Profiles Virtual Appliance profiles on your Kubernetes cluster differ from regular deployment. See sizing requirements for Supported Profiles.
Tools Secure Application management by using CLI and migration tool are unsupported.
Hybrid deployment Not applicable
