Enable OpenTelemetry in the Java Agent
The Java Agent supports three modes to send the OpenTelemetry signals:
Note: is not available in these modes.
Hybrid Mode:
Generates both Splunk AppDynamics APM data and OpenTelemetry traces using Splunk AppDynamics instrumentation rules.
Requires Java Agent 22.3.0 or higher.

Dual Signal Mode
Generates Splunk AppDynamics APM data with OpenTelemetry signals using the OpenTelemetry Instrumentation for Java.
Requires Java Agent 25.6.0 or higher.
Consumes higher memory and CPU than the hybrid mode.

OpenTelemetry Only Mode
- Generates OpenTelemetry signals using the OpenTelemetry Instrumentation for Java.
Does not generate Splunk AppDynamics APM data (it does not register with the Controller).
Requires Java Agent 25.7.0 or higher.
