Connections
Browse connections for federated datasets and inspect connection metadata using the Connections tab of the Catalog in Splunk Cloud Platform.
The Connections tab of the Catalog lists the connections that are available to you based on the roles granted to your user account.
Use connections to authenticate access to remote data stores. Connections allow federated datasets to retrieve data from remote data stores through federated searches. They also allow federated datasets to send processed data from Edge Processor and Ingest Processor pipelines to specific supported data stores, such as Amazon S3 and Microsoft Azure. Each connection can be used by multiple datasets.
You can use the Connections tab to manage connections to the following types of data stores:
-
Amazon S3
-
Azure Databricks
-
CloudWatch Unified Data Store
-
Microsoft Azure
-
Snowflake
The Connections tab displays information such as the type of data store that the connection accesses and the abilities that the connection supports. Connections that show the FS ability can be used to retrieve data through federated searches, while those that show the EP and IP abilities can be used to route data from Edge Processor and Ingest Processor pipelines, respectively.
You can select a connection on the Catalog to open a side panel and view details such as:
-
The type of remote data store that the connection accesses, such as Amazon S3 or Snowflake.
-
Identifiers pertaining to the remote data store. For example, when you select a connection that accesses Amazon S3, the side panel shows the AWS account ID and AWS region.
-
The number of federated datasets that use the connection.
-
The authentication method used by the connection.
