Import tests from ThousandEyes to Splunk Synthetic Monitoring

Import existing ThousandEyes tests when your network operations team already monitors important applications in ThousandEyes and you want those tests to appear in Splunk Synthetic Monitoring.

Before you begin

The existing ThousandEyes test must:

  • Be a supported test type.

  • Belong to an account group selected in the Splunk ThousandEyes integration.

Import an existing test to Splunk

  1. Under Create new Test, select Import TE tests.

  2. Select the account group.

  3. Select one or more tests to bulk import.

  4. Select Import.

Create an HTTP server test

  1. In Splunk Observability Cloud, select Digital Experience, then Synthetic tests.

  2. Select Create new test.

  3. Select HTTP Server Test.

  4. Enter a test name.

  5. Enter the target URL.

  6. (Optional) Check off follow redirects.

  7. (Optional) Add request headers.

  8. Select ThousandEyes locations.

  9. Set the test frequency.

  10. Configure network layer options: protocol, path trace mode in session.

  11. Add detectors if you want alerts to be created with the test.

  12. Select Create.

Every run of a ThousandEyes test in Splunk Synthetic Monitoring produces a set of results that help you understand the network impact on your application in real time.

To learn more about the types of ThousandEyes tests, see Tests in the ThousandEyes documentation. To set up a Splunk uptime test, see Set up an uptime test.

Create ThousandEyes tests with Terraform

Create ThousandEyes tests using Terraform. For provider configuration, supported resources, and examples, see the ThousandEyes Terraform documentation.

Run data

Each run result shows the following metadata:

  • Run duration
  • Response time
  • DNS time
  • Connect time
  • SSL time
  • Wait time
  • Receive time
  • Status code
  • Redirects
  • Throughput
  • Wire size

The run results page shows the following additional diagnostics to help you understand the root cause of availability issues:
