Back Up and Restore the Virtual Appliance
Overview
There are three different options to back up and restore the Splunk AppDynamics On-Premises Virtual Appliance, each designed for a specific purpose:

General Backup and Restore: The Virtual Appliance backup enables you to restore the Virtual Appliance using the backed-up data on the same Virtual Appliance. See General Backup and Restore.
- Disaster Recovery: If you need to set up disaster recovery, follow the backup and restore steps outlined in Set Up Disaster Recovery for Virtual Appliance
- Upgrade: If your goal is to back up and restore data specifically for upgrading the Virtual Appliance, refer to Upgrade the Virtual Appliance .
General Backup and Restore
You have the following approaches to back up and restore the Virtual Appliance:
- Back Up Using the S3 Compatible Storage of MinIO
- Back Up and Restore Using the Network File System Server
You can back up the following datastores and restore them in the Virtual Appliance:
- MySQL
- Elasticsearch
- PostgreSQL
