Use the Connections tab of the Catalog in Splunk Cloud Platform to create, configure, and manage connections that let federated datasets access data in remote data stores.
Use the Connections tab of the Catalog to create, edit, or delete connections that allow federated datasets to access data in remote data stores.
You can use the same connection for multiple datasets. If an existing connection authenticates to your remote data store of interest, then you don't need to create another connection.
Create a connection for a federated dataset:
- On the Catalog, select Create and then Connection.
- Follow the on-screen guidance to create a connection that accesses data from your data store of interest.
For detailed instructions about configuring a connection, refer to the following documentation:
-
For information about creating connections to retrieve data from data stores through federated searches, see the Federated Search manual.
-
For information about creating connections to process and write data to data stores through Edge Processor pipelines, see the Use Edge Processors for Splunk Cloud Platform manual.
-
For information about creating connections to process and write data to data stores through Ingest Processor pipelines, see the Use Ingest Processors manual.
Edit a connection:
- On the Connections tab of the Catalog, select a connection, then select the Actions icon (
) and Manage.
You can specify configurations such as the specific data store that the connection can access.
Delete a connection:
- If you have the required permissions, you can delete a connection by selecting it from the Connections tab of the Catalog and then selecting the Actions icon (
) and Delete.
CAUTION: Before deleting a connection, make sure that it is not being used as a dependency for any federated datasets. To confirm whether a connection is in use, select the connection and check the count in the Datasets field in the side panel.
