Add a logs chart
You can add metrics-based charts to a Splunk Observabiltiy Cloud dashboard.
To add a logs-based chart to a dashboard, follow these steps:

Log in to Splunk Observability Cloud and navigate to Dashboards.

Select Create dashboard in the upper-right corner.

Select Add, and then select Logs, then Create.

Set a time range.
- If you do not want to use the default connection, select a connection.

Select Indexes, then select the index or indexes you want to query to form your log-based chart.
Note: In the center of the module, you can view the events in the index you selected. -
In the Data scope section, select SPL1 editor, SPL2 editor, or JSON editor, depending on how you want to query your Splunk platform logs.

Enter your SPL1, SPL2, or JSON query, and then select Run Search.
- To include or exclude selected fields, select Field Summary.

Select the visualization type that best represents your data.

Give your chart a title and description.

Select Save.
