Create an event definition from session replay

Create event definitions for use in Digital Experience Analytics (DXA) directly from the Splunk RUM session replay player.

Upgrade your Splunk RUM browser agent to version 3.1.0 or later. For more information, see Upgrade the Splunk RUM browser agent.
Use the RUM session replay player to create an event definition for use in Digital Experience Analytics (DXA). For more information about event definitions, see Create and manage event definitions .
  1. From the Analyses tab, select any of your configured analyses.
  2. Select a specific data point on any of your analyses to view a list of sessions. Select a specific session from the list to open the session replay player.
  3. View the list of Events to see a list of events organized by the event type, including errors, interactions, frustration events, and custom events. Filter for specific events using the filter dropdown.
  4. Select Create event definition to open the event definition configuration modal for a specific event in the session, and configure a new event definition. Update the event definition settings:
    1. Tags: Select a tag that represents the element you want to track.
    2. Select whether to track the behavior only on all URLs where the event occurs, the current session URL, or a specific URL group.
    3. Configure the event definition for the specific event type. Preview sample data for your definition in the Occurrences section.
  5. (Optional) Alternatively, select the User Segments tab and select a specific user segment. From the list of users, select a specific user ID to view sessions for the specific user, and view the session replay player.
  6. Select Save.
View your saved event definition from the Event Definitions tab in Digital Experience Analytics.
