Edit Application Names

Enables authorized users to rename APM applications.

You can edit the Application Performance monitoring (APM) application names if you have the Administrator role or the Edit Applications Name granular permission. This ensures that only authorized users can modify the names of the applications listed on the Applications page.

Note: For Real User Monitoring (RUM), Mobile Real User Monitoring (MRUM), and Browser Real User Monitoring (BRUM) applications, users only require the Edit permission to modify the application name. However, for APM applications (such as Java, .NET, Node.js or Python), users must have both the Edit and Edit Applications Name permissions.

To allow users to modify APM application names, you must update their assigned roles. You can either modify an existing role or create a new one.

  1. Go to Settings > Administration > Roles.
  2. Select or create a Role:
    • Select the role you wish to modify and click Edit.

    • Click Create to define a new role.

  3. Configure Permissions:
    1. In the role configuration window, navigate to the Application tab.
    2. Expand the Edit permission list section.
    3. Select the Edit Applications Name checkbox.
  4. Click Save to apply the changes to the role.
  5. If you created a new role, navigate to Settings > Administration > Users.
  6. Select the specific user and click Edit.
  7. Assign the newly updated role to the user and click Save.
