Configure HTTPS for the Edge Hub Advanced Settings page server

Note: For documentation on other necessary components for Splunk Edge Hub, see the Splunk App for Edge Hub documentation, Splunk Edge Hub mobile app documentation, and Splunk Edge Hub hardware documentation.

The Edge Hub Advanced Settings page web server communicates through the HTTP protocol. You can reconfigure the web server to use HTTPS by using a set of Splunk Edge Hub OS-signed certificates or you can provide your own certificates.

Prerequisites

Before connecting your Splunk Edge Hub to an IP device, register your Edge Splunk Edge Hub and launch the Edge Hub Advanced Settings page.

Use Splunk Edge Hub OS-signed certificates

Here's how to use Splunk Edge Hub OS-signed certificates to use the HTTPS protocol:

  1. In the Edge Hub Advanced Settings page, navigate to the Admin tab.
  2. Select Edge Server TLS Configuration.
  3. Select Self-signed TLS.

Splunk Edge Hub OS generates a new self-signed certificate and automatically switches to the HTTPS protocol. The server might take some time to restart.

Use your own certificates

If you prepared a set of self-signed certificates, here's how you can configure Splunk Edge Hub OS to use your own certificates for HTTPS:

  1. In the Edge Hub Advanced Settings page, navigate to the Admin tab.
  2. Select Edge Server TLS Configuration.
  3. Select User-signed TLS (most secure).
  4. Upload your private key and certificate pair.
  5. Select Upload Keys.

Splunk Edge Hub OS applies your key and certificate pair to the web server and automatically switches to HTTPS.
