Set up a private network for air-gapped registration

Note: For documentation on other necessary components for Splunk Edge Hub, see the Splunk App for Edge Hub documentation, Splunk Edge Hub mobile app documentation, and Splunk Edge Hub hardware documentation.

If your organization works in an air-gapped environment, you can set up a private network for Splunk Edge Hub device registration.

You'll set up Private Spacebridge, obtain and install a self-signed certificate, and proceed to register your Splunk Edge Hub devices.

Prerequisites and requirements

Complete the following before setting up a private network for Splunk Edge Hub device registration:

1. Set up Private Spacebridge

Set up Private Spacebridge, a backend infrastructure that allows devices to securely connect to a Splunk platform instance deployed within your own Kubernetes cluster.

To learn more about Private Spacebridge, see About Private Spacebridge in the Set up Private Spacebridge manual.

To set up Private Spacebridge, see Get started with Private Spacebridge in the Set up Private Spacebridge manual.

3. Register your Splunk Edge Hub device

To register your Splunk Edge Hub device, complete the steps at Register or unregister your Splunk Edge Hub device in the Splunk Edge Hub OS Configuration Guide.

Note: You must scan the QR code displayed in Splunk Secure Gateway when registering your device. Alternative login is not supported for private network registration.
