Features of the Database Files Windows
This page contains five tabs:
- Databases
- Temp Database
- Filegroups
- Data Files
- Log Files
When you select a database under the Databases tab, it displays the filegroups count, data files count, and the following metrics:
- Data Files Total Size (Megabytes)
- Data Files Used Size (Megabytes)
- Data Files Used (%)
- Data Files Free Size (Megabytes)
- Data Files Free (%)
- Log Files Count
- Log Files Total Size (Megabytes)
- Log Files Used Size (Megabytes)
- Log Files Used (%)
- Log Files Free Size (Megabytes)
- Log Files Free (%)
Clicking the View All button next to Filegroups Count, Data Files Count, and Log Files Count takes you to the Filegroups, Data Files, and Log Files tab respectively. When you navigate this way, a filter gets applied so that only the data relevant to the selected database is displayed on the destination tab.
The Temp Database tab is basically a shortcut to reach the temp database. The temp database is also displayed under the Databases tab. The Temp Database tab is useful if the list of databases is huge and you need to find the temp database quickly.
The Filegroups, Data Files, and Log Files tabs display the file groups, data files, and log files of all the databases. However, when you select a database from the Databases tab and navigate to these tabs, only the data of the selected database is displayed. On the Filegroups tab, you can also filter the filegroups by clicking and select the databases that you want to filter. Similarly, on the Data Files tab, you can filter by database name, file state, and filegroup name, and on the Log Files tab, you can filter by database name and file state.
