Application Performance Monitoring (APM)

Enterprise Entitlements

  • Monitoring for servers, supported application languages, networks, and databases instrumented with Splunk AppDynamics for up to 1 CPU Core.
  • Access to the Splunk AppDynamics Events Service.

    Note: Event Service data retention is limited to 8 days.
  • Transaction Analytics for Enterprise: Per license unit purchased, instrument up to 400,000 business transaction events per 24-hour period. Access to the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service, with a data maximum of 100 GB per account per day for the following product types: Splunk AppDynamics for Java, .NET, and Node.js.

    Note: Data retention is limited to 8 days. Additional retention of 30, 60, or 90 days is available as an add-on.
  • Includes Premium Entitlements package.

Premium Entitlements

  • Monitoring for servers, supported application languages, networks, and databases instrumented with Splunk AppDynamics for up to 1 CPU Core.
  • Monitor the Applications using any of these APM agents: Java, .NET, C/C++ SDK, Apache Web Server, PHP, Node.js, Python, Golang SDK, and IBM Integration Bus.
  • Obtain network visibility through the Network Agent.
  • Monitor any of the following Databases using the Database agent and collectors: Couchbase Server, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, SAP HANA, Oracle, Microsoft Azure SQL database, Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance, MongoDB instance or replica sets. Event Data is retained for 10 days for each Database Instance monitored by Splunk AppDynamics.
  • Includes entitlements for the Infrastructure Monitoring package.

Infrastructure Monitoring Entitlements

  • Monitoring for servers instrumented with Splunk AppDynamics for up to 1 CPU Core.
  • Gain server visibility through Server Agents and Machine Agents that monitor the machine, including .NET web applications, .NET Windows services, and .NET standalone apps using the .NET Machine Agent.
  • Monitor clustered environments with the Cluster Agent.

Enterprise Edition for SAP Solutions

  • Monitoring for supported SAP applications using ABAP (Agent), servers, and networks instrumented with Splunk AppDynamics for up to 1 CPU Core
  • Ability to instrument applications using SNP Crystal Bridge Monitoring 1 for up to 1 CPU Core.

  • Access to the Splunk AppDynamics Events Service

    Note: Event Service data retention is limited to 8 days.

Real User Monitoring (SaaS) - Peak Edition

  • Splunk AppDynamics Peak Edition entitlements include access to Analytics functionality.

      Note: Event Service data retention is limited to 8 days.
    • Access to Browser Analytics functionality for Browser Real User Monitoring and Mobile Analytics functionality for Mobile Real User Monitoring.
    • Access to Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud which stores Event Data with a default limit of 100 GB per Controller Tenant per day for each Event Data type.

      Note: Data retention is limited to 8 days. Additional retention of 30, 60, or 90 days is available as an add-on.
  • 10,000,000 Real User Monitoring Tokens;
    • A RUM Token is a common unit of measure for consumption of Real User Monitoring products during each 12 calendar month period in a License Term, with the first such period beginning on the start date of the relevant License Term; one Pageview consumes one RUM Token, and deployment of one Active Agent consumes 160 RUM Tokens per month.

      Note: Network requests do not impact the consumption of RUM Tokens.

      This table provides an example of RUM Token usage by active RUM agents to help illustrate the consumption over three months:

Customer Digital Experience Monitoring: An active license for both Real User Monitoring (SaaS) - Peak Edition and an active subscription for ThousandEyes Network and Application Synthetics are required for the below entitlement.

  • Capability to ingest up to 9 million network metrics (packet loss, latency, jitter as described in the ThousandEyes documentation ThousandEyes Metrics: What Do Your Results Mean? and network alerts from ThousandEyes Network and Application Synthetics (purchased and licensed separately) per 12-month period following the license provision date ("Ingestion Limit"). Once you reach your Ingestion Limit, Splunk AppDynamics will no longer ingest ThousandEyes network metrics and alerts.

    Note: Splunk AppDynamics retains ThousandEyes network metrics for 8 days by default. Splunk AppDynamics offers Extended Cloud Storage of additional retention periods of 30, 60, or 90 days as an add-on.

Real User Monitoring (SaaS) - Pro Edition

Browser Real User Monitoring (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • Instrument 10 Million Pageviews per 12-month period following the license provision date.
  • Access to the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud and Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.
  • Raw page requests, sessions, and resources are retained as Event Data with a default limit of 100 GB per Controller Tenant per day for each Event Data type.

    Warning: Splunk AppDynamics reserves the right to drop customer traffic if the foregoing limitation is exceeded by the end user.
  • Customers may also choose to store raw Ajax or other events requests as Event Data if they also have access to Analytics, and every 5 requests stored consumes one Page view.
  • Event Data is retained for 8 days. Additional retention of Event Data for 30, 60, or 90 days is available as an add-on at additional cost and requires the purchase of Splunk AppDynamics Browser Analytics.
  • Resource Performance data is retained for 6 days. JavaScript Error Source File and Source Map data are retained for 90 days.

Mobile Real User Monitoring (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • Instrument 5,000 Active Agents per calendar month and access the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud and Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service. A maximum of 500 fields of the following types are available on the event service as Event Data Type: network requests, sessions, errors, and crashes.
  • Each Event Data Type has a usage limit of 100 GB per Controller Tenant per day. Crash reports are retained for 365 days, code issues are retained for 30 days, and all other Event Data is retained for 8 days. Additional retention of Event Data for 30, 60, or 90 days is available as an add-on at additional cost and requires the purchase of Splunk AppDynamics Mobile Analytics.

Browser Analytics (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • Access to Analytics functionality for Browser Real User Monitoring.
  • Access to Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud which stores Event Data with a default limit of 100 GB per Controller Tenant per day for each Event Data type.
  • Access to the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.

Mobile Analytics (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • Access to Analytics functionality for Mobile Real User Monitoring.
  • Access to Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud which stores Event Data with a default limit of 100 GB per Controller Tenant per day for each Event Data type.
  • Access to the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.

Browser Synthetic and Synthetic API Monitoring - Hosted Agent (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • 40,000 units of 5-second synthetic time blocks (STBs) on the Splunk AppDynamics’ hosted synthetic platform per calendar month for use between Browser Synthetic Monitoring and Synthetic API Monitoring. Any unused seconds will not roll over to the next calendar month.
  • Browser Synthetic Monitoring is metered in 5-second increments (i.e., 1 STB). Each Browser Synthetic Monitoring job is rounded up to the next 5-second STB.
  • Synthetic API Monitoring is metered in 1-second increments.
  • Access to Business Performance Monitoring features on the synthetic Events Data, which will be retained for a period of 13 months from the date on which the applicable synthetics Events Data is collected.
  • Access to the EUM Cloud and Events Service.

Browser Synthetic or Synthetic API Monitoring - Private Agent - Per Location (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • You are entitled to use either Browser Synthetic Monitoring or Synthetic API Monitoring for each license you purchased.
    • For Browser Synthetic Monitoring, you are entitled to run 1 synthetic job that hits 1 page from 1 location. Browser Synthetic Monitoring supports a minimum frequency execution of 5 minutes. A synthetic job that fails to hit any pages is counted as 1 page.
    • For Synthetic API Monitoring, you are entitled to run 1 synthetic job that hits 1 API from 1 location. Synthetic API Monitoring supports a minimum frequency execution of 1 minute.
  • Access to Business Performance Monitoring features on the synthetic Events Data, which will be retained for a period of 13 months from the date on which the applicable synthetics Events Data is collected.
  • Access to the EUM Cloud and Events Service.

Browser Synthetic or Synthetic API Monitoring - Private Agent - Unlimited Locations (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • You are entitled to use either Browser Synthetic Monitoring or Synthetic API Monitoring for each license you purchased.
    • For Browser Synthetic Monitoring, you are entitled to run 1 synthetic job that hits 1 page from any number of locations. Browser Synthetic Monitoring supports a minimum frequency execution of 5 minutes. You are limited to 500,000 Page views per calendar month per license unit, and any unused Page views will not roll over to the next calendar month. A synthetic job that fails to hit any pages is counted as 1 page.
    • For Synthetic API Monitoring, you are entitled to run 1 synthetic job that hits 1 API from any number of locations. Synthetic API Monitoring supports a minimum frequency execution of 1 minute. You are limited to 500,000 API requests per calendar month per license unit, and any unused API requests will not roll over to the next calendar month.
  • Access to Business Performance Monitoring features on the synthetic Events Data, which will be retained for a period of 13 months from the date on which the applicable synthetics Events Data is collected.
  • Access to the EUM Cloud and Events Service.

IoT for Connected Devices (SaaS) - Peak Edition

  • Ability to instrument 1,000 application instances that are embedded on a connected device (or multiple devices) per calendar month.
  • Access to the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service, with a data maximum of 100 GB per account per day.
  • You shall be entitled to use Splunk AppDynamics for IoT only if you have at least 100,000 application instances that are:
    • Embedded on a connected device (or multiple devices);
    • Eligible to be instrumented Splunk AppDynamics for IoT, only available to SaaS customers; and
    • Actively in use by your end users.
  • An "eligible" application instance is an application that can be instrumented using Splunk AppDynamics' C/C++ SDK, Java SDK, or Splunk AppDynamics Rest APIs (each for IoT).
  • Event Data is retained for 8 days. Additional retention of Event Data for 30, 60, or 90 days is available as an add-on at an additional cost.

Real User Monitoring (On-premises) - Peak Edition

Browser Real User Monitoring (On-premises) - Pro Edition

  • Instrument 10 Million Pageviews per 12-month period; raw page requests and sessions are retained as Event Data.

  • The customer is not entitled to access the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud or Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.

Browser Analytics (On-premises) - Pro Edition

  • Access to Analytics functionality for Browser Real User Monitoring.
  • The customer is not entitled to access the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud or Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.

Mobile Analytics (On-premises) - Pro Edition

  • Access to Analytics functionality for Mobile Real User Monitoring.
  • The customer is not entitled to access the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud or Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.

Browser Synthetic Monitoring - Private Agent - Per Location (on-prem) - Pro Edition

  • Ability to run a synthetic job that hits 1 page from 1 location (multiple units add together to run jobs that hit multiple pages from multiple locations).

  • Use Business Performance Monitoring features on the synthetic Events Data, if applicable, which is retained for 13 months.

    Warning: A job that fails to hit any pages is counted as 1 page.
  • You are not entitled to access the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud or Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.

Browser Synthetic Monitoring - Private Agent - Unlimited Locations (on-prem) - Pro Edition

  • Ability to run a synthetic job that hits 1 page from any number of locations.
  • Use Business Performance Monitoring features on the synthetic Events Data, if applicable, which are retained for 13 months.
  • You are not entitled to access the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted EUM Cloud or Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.
Warning: Unused Pageviews are not rolled over to the following month. A job that fails to hit any pages is counted as 1 page.

Log Analytics (SaaS) - Pro Edition

  • Publish/index 5 Gigabytes (GB) of log data per 24-hour period (limited to 8 days of data storage) and access the Splunk AppDynamics-hosted Events Service.
  • Additional retention beyond 8 days can be purchased as an add-on.

Log Analytics (On-premises) - Pro Edition

  • Publish/index 5 Gigabytes (GB) of log data per 24-hour period

    Note: Default data storage is 8 days and available up to 90 days.
