Understand how Virtual Appliance lifecycle and backup operations affect customer-managed external services.
Lifecycle operations
Virtual Appliance stop, start, destroy, and uninstall operations preserve customer-managed external service instances and data. These operations do not delete external Kafka topics or PostgreSQL databases.
Backup and restore
Embedded-service backup and snapshot commands do not back up external data. Use the external service provider's supported backup, point-in-time recovery, retention, restore, and disaster-recovery procedures.
Coordinate a PostgreSQL recovery with Secure Application consistency requirements. Validate the recovered service before you reconnect Virtual Appliance.
