The purpose of applying feed files is to:

• Make the Secure Application service fully functional. The service is not fully functional until a feed file is downloaded and imported into the system.
• Allow the Secure Application service to receive daily updates with the latest security signatures so that it can monitor the latest security vulnerabilities and attack detection.

There are two methods for downloading the feed file into your deployment: automatic feed downloads and manual feed downloads.
