No applications are available to be imported on the Splunk AppDynamics Import Applications dashboard

Solution

  1. Confirm that application status events have been ingested by the Splunk Add-on for AppDynamics:
    1. From the IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) main menu, select Search.
    2. In the New Search field, enter search index="appdynamics" source="application_status". Ensure that the time range is set to Last 24 hours.
    3. Use the results to confirm if application status events have been ingested within the last 24 hours.
  2. If application status events are not available, troubleshoot the Splunk Add-on for AppDynamics to resolve the issue. See Troubleshoot add-on issues.
  3. If application status events are available, confirm that the controller_url field on the events matches the controller URL on the controller account:

Note: A common mismatch is a "/" symbol at the end of one of the controller URL fields.
    1. On the search results page under the Event column, identify the value for the controller_url.
    2. Check the controller URL on the controller account:
      1. From the Splunk Enterprise main menu, select Apps, then Splunk Add-on for AppDynamics.
      2. From the Splunk Add-on for AppDynamics main menu, select Configuration.
      3. In the Controller Connections tab, check the Controller URL.
  4. If the controller URL doesn't match the controller_url attribute, update the controller connection so that the controller URL matches the controller_url that is being sent on the application status events:
    1. From the Splunk Add-on for AppDynamics main menu, select Configuration.
    2. In the Controller Connections tab, select the edit icon for the controller.
    3. Update the Controller URL field so that it matches the controller_url attribute on the application status events.
    4. Select Update.
