Controller Compatibility with Operating Systems and Components

The following tables list the controller compatibility with various operating systems and other on-prem components for new installation and upgrades. For agent compatibility with the controller, see Agent and Controller Tenant Compatibility.

Note: Ensure that you have installed the Required Libraries before you proceed with the controller install or upgrade.

Operating Systems Support

These operating systems support the Splunk AppDynamics platform:

Note:

*RHEL7.9 does not support the installation of Private Synthetic Agent.

Effective with the release of Splunk AppDynamics version 25.1.0, RHEL 7 will no longer be a supported operating system for Splunk AppDynamics. See End of Support Notice: RHEL 7.

You can use the following file systems for machines that run Linux:

Controller Compatibility with Components

Splunk AppDynamics maintains and supports every software version for one calendar year after the next major Controller release is generally available. You have the flexibility to upgrade any component to a newer version released within the previous 12 months, without the need to synchronize these upgrades across different components. However, Splunk AppDynamics recommends adopting the most recent versions of all components on a regular basis to ensure optimal performance and feature access.

Note:

Enterprise Console is used to administer Controller and Events Service.
For users planning to migrate data from Elasticsearch version 2.x to 8.x using phase 1 or phase 2, ensure that you use the latest version of the Events Service.
