Create business transaction alerts

Learn how to set up detector to alert on issues in your business transactions.

You can use APM detectors to monitor your business transactions for errors or changes in request rate and latency. Detectors send alerts to notify you of unexpected or problematic behavior before it negatively impacts application performance in your business-critical transactions. Alerts on your important business transactions can be an indicator of impact to your business or issues with your critical processes.

You can use the APM detector guided setup to fine-tune settings such as trigger threshold, trigger sensitivity, and cycle length for each of the conditions. You can also control the alert message, set the severity, and select alert recipients.

Prerequisites

  • Your Splunk APM administrator has configured at least one business transaction rule in your Splunk Observability Cloud account. For instructions, see Configure business transaction rules.

  • You’re using the enterprise-level product offering.
