Validate a source

After you add a source to Exposure Analytics, including the configuration process for the event search and prioritization, you can validate the source to make sure the expected fields are mapped correctly. Validating a source is not required to add and configure a source, but it can be helpful for finding errors in field mapping.

To validate a source, complete the following steps:

  1. In Exposure Analytics, select Configure then All configurations.
  2. In the Exposure analytics section, select Entity discovery sources.

  3. Select the more icon ( more ) next to the source you want to validate.
  4. Select Validate source.
  5. Select a source Search time window. Most streaming sources have data within the Last 15 minutes.
  6. Select a Processing type using the drop-down list. By default, you can only see configured processing types, but you can check the Display all types check box to choose from other processing types that aren't configured.
  7. Review the Values found column and find which values are Required. You can also sort the columns.
Note: If you can't see any data for a scheduled source, you can select the search icon for the source and then select Generate summary to run the scheduled search and generate data in the summary index. Then, you can validate the source using the Last 15 minutes search time window.
  8. (Optional) Uncheck the box to Display all fields to show only the fields that have values found.
  9. Select Close.
