Set Up Alert and Respond for Kubernetes Entities

Perform the following to get alerts for Kubernetes entities based on the specified conditions, and monitor the alert events:
  1. Define the health rule.
  2. Configure the required policy using the health rule created in step 1. See Configure Policies.
  3. Use email or HTML templates for alert action. You can unzip the email_template.zip file to download the email and HTML templates for Kubernetes alerting. To use the variables within the email template, see Predefined Templating Variables for Kubernetes.
  4. Examine the health rule violation.
  5. Check the event metrics in the K8s Metric Explorer dashboard for the triggered alerts.
    Note: For Policy, Actions, Action Suppression, and Email digests, both Kubernetes and the Server are mapped to the same application. Therefore, alerting entities other than Health Rules are common. Deleting an entity from the Server or Kubernetes will also delete it from the corresponding Kubernetes or Server.
